I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'll give Apple credit for the magsafe back. I've loved Qi charging since it came out and getting something to help affix your charger in just the right space is what we all needed. The fact that we can also now use it to hold your phone in place is such a bonus that I'm now sold and any case I get HAS to have magnets, or get those adapters from Scosche.
One charging accessory I use daily is my magnet charging mount in my car for my commute. It not only holds the phone for a proper charge, but puts it in a space that's easy to see what calls are coming in or what text (responsibly).
Then I see Nomad makes one too and I had to get it.
And upon seeing it, my wife snapped it up. I guess fair is fair...
But, she did just get the better one. Sure, the Nomad Charge Mount is $90USD (but the Scosche is $60USD, so that's about the same - Plus, buy now and you get a free keychain cable), but I think that not only is it a little sleek model, doesn't really stand out much.
What you get in the box is the charger (up to 7.5W Qi), a separate cord, a separate DC plug and a couple cord holders with backing stickers.
The little DC plug is so cute!
It's teeny tiny so it's meant to be almost invisible in your car.
It comes as a separate piece, which is pretty awesome in my mind. Meaning you could unplug it from the charger, and plug your phone in directly... or, you could unplug the charge base and take it with you somewhere else you have a cable. I love that. If I could get a nice desktop stand, awesome.
The cable is one of their nice wrapped nylon cables that I use a ton around my house. Nomad makes some amazing gear that I have just about everywhere (I have this on my desk at work and my home office, and this for my bed stand). Stuff just lasts and works amazingly well.
So, it's in the wife's car now, and the gripper holds the vent blades well enough.
The phone does not bounce around.
It's fairly low profile (for her spot, this works out as it's almost close to her steering wheel, the Scosche would have been too big we feel), and the little cable keepers with the stickers helps you to keep the cables out of the way.
Nicely done, Nomad.
