I'm loving the Pixel 9 so far, but holding it 'naked' fills me with a bit of fear. It's sleek and ... almost slippery. So I want to protect it.
I just protected the front with a glass screen protector from UAG, but I'll want to protect the back, plus help it from slipping in my hand.
UAG has a few options. I reviewed their "Scout" case for the 8a, but they don't have an option for something with MagSafe, and I've really come to almost depend on that for my charging lately.
With magnets there are 2 options (and each with or without the magnets): the Pathfinder or the Plyo.
The Pathfinder ($76 with magnets, or $62 without magnets; available in black or a forest green) is their fully protective model with MIL STD 810G protective features and good for an 18ft drop.
This definitely feels safer with its HEX design inside to provide flexibility and good bumpers to protect it from a good crash. Even better is that the bumper makes it level with the camera bump out. It does make it a little 'bulkier', but that's the trade off for good protection.
I did find that with this case on (I have the model without the magnets) that with a weaker Qi charging pad that it was more finnicky. With more modern ones there isn't an issue.
The Plyo ($55 without magnets, $69 with magnets) is not as 'protective' with a 16ft drop safety rating it is a clear plastic that still feels sturdy.
Its case almost 'wraps' around to the front of the display.
The cutout for the camera bump isn't flush with the back, so you still get that 'wedge feel', but it's hardly noticeable
Best of all, unlike other clear plastic cases I've had, they say that this will not yellow over time.
So if you've got to protect your phone, check out these UAG options.
Personally, I'm more attracted to the Plyo, so I can show off the colour (even if it's peony) and I'm so used to using MagSafe options that for me it's worth the $14 difference.
