Cover your Pixel 9 with a UAG Glass Screen Protector Shield

Okay, with just under a month of time with my Pixel 9, I am noticing that a small 'nick' has appeared in a teeny tiny ridge area.  Someone else would have to hunt for it, but I see it.  Time to protect it.

UAG graciously has sent me over their Glass Screen Protector Shield to do the job which sells for $48CDN.  It's about midline pricewise for something of glass level protection, so let's put it on!

I've always semi-dreaded installations.  I remember back when I worked at a cellphone shop that we'd offer to do it for people, but not me.  I'd just take way too long.  The longest part is the prep - cleaning the screen, ensuring there is NO flecks of dust or anything.

I think I did an ok job on this one.

What made it super easy is the included guide / applicator.  No fussing with lining it up the right way, or was this angle just slightly off ... put the guide down, and plop the protector in.

After a few days with it now on, I can't see any of those 'trapped air' bits under the glass anymore and it looks great.  You'll want a case over the phone as the glass protector doesn't come quite to the edge of the phone, so you can feel the edge of the protector as you go do do any of the navigation gestures (where you swipe from the sides or bottom of the screen).  It's not sharp, but it's just noticeable.

I do note that the fingerprint sensor does have to work a little harder now.  It was almost unusable at first, but I deleted my fingerprint from before and 're-registered' them.  It works now, but about as well as the optical sensor on previous models.  I was really getting used to the ultrasonic method - it was so fast, with this I have to be just a bit more intentional in pressing.  In a couple days I hardly notice anymore.

As for any clarity or difference, nothing I can see (just the ridge at the edges) so it looks like nothing's there.

If you love your phone, you'll want to protect that display.  As much as we baby our phones - but there's always goin to be that one moment where you put your phone in your pocket and forgot your keys were in there; or your phone is put down and a pen rolls off your book and lands metal on the glass (those are the worst... where it's the tiniest of taps and you can just barely see it, but you KNOW it's there).

Save yourself that fate.
