Okay, this phone just became too comfortable as my 'go to' at my desk that I almost forgot I needed to do a review on it.
This is the Pixel 9a. Running at just $679CDN (compared to $1099 for the 9... or $1349 for the 9 Pro) it is for those that are more fiscally conscious. They don't need the top end and the trade off for the savings is definitely palatable (almost even to me).
So, for the sub $700 phone range, here's what you get compared to the Pixel 9

You can see, for a lot of the device, it's the same.
Yes, 8GB RAM is not much, but if you're not doing a LOT with your phone (I'm a bit of a power user, 5 email accounts, about the same in social media accounts over facebook, insta, ....) you're not going to notice that it has any difficulty juggling between.
For me, the biggest 'wow' has to be that for that price you're getting near same phone, INCLUDING Qi CHARGING. Wireless charging is a must have for me, and no matter what other gimmick you include, I just won't compromise. It still comes with a lot of the great camera post processing other Pixels have. The Pixel Studio app
Sure, I'll miss the telephoto zoom - but I'm not sure many others would.
Overall, I believe the Pixel Xa series phones are your best bang for the buck.
