Okay, so today's the day I can show this finally.
I've had the opportunity to play around with the OnePlus 13 now for a couple weeks, and it's pretty awesome. It's literally become my gaming console as I use either my Stadia controller or the Gamevice (for those games that you can play with a controller)
I'll do a full review in a couple of days (I had really meant to have something by today, but ... holidays man, they be crazy hectic); but in the meantime here are my quick thoughts
- it feels definitely sleeker, with thinner rails
- the phone 'feels' faster as the animations are sped up
- battery is immense
- it feels more 'vibrant' in its display
- still has the 'screen protector' over top - and as much as I like it, I'm afraid about 'what if' over the long term (will it be removable easily)
- I still have to play with the camera to see how much difference there'll be between this and the 12, I don't anticipate too much to be honest.
- they have spent a great deal of time with the AI - which again, may be cool features that might just sit idle
Note, the model I have is the $1399CAD (on sale for $1250) which is:
- 6.82" @ 3168x1440 [1-120Hz]
- Snapdragon 8 Elite
- 16GB RAM
- 512GB RAM
- Rear
- 50MP Wide
- 50MP normal
- 50MP 3x telephoto
- Front 32MP
- 6000mAh
- IP69
That's a heckuva bunch of big numbers. For me the interesting bits are the IP69. Essentially, our IP68 devices, which we can dunk in water, but this can take some extra pressure now too (think dropping it in your jacuzzi vs. just the pool).
The telephoto lens also makes use of a new 'triprism' feature instead of the previous commonly seen "telescope" method, so a triprism allows the light to still travel the distance and magnify (to get the zoom) but also be a little smaller profile.
You can save $150 or so and knock down the storage to half (256GB) and the RAM by a quarter (12GB), but I think that $150 is well spent to get the best.
I'm looking forward to seeing more as we get more accessories (like the cases with magnets for wireless charging, or the new AirVOOC wireless charger)!
Full review coming shortly!
