Check out Greedy Greedy Gnomes for some tap tappy fun

So, I travel some lately and I need a game that can help me kill a little bit of time and something's available offline. Plus, if I get that call it's time to board, I like to be able to put it down and not worry that I'm going to lose a turn or something.

This week I've been playing Greedy Greedy Gnomes, which runs at $5.50CDN in the play store

Essentially, it's a tap game to earn coins, and then with those coins you can purchase upgrades to help you earn coins faster and faster - the goal is to get to 1 billion coins.  It'll take forever if you don't upgrade, but do you want to spend money you've earned just to hopefully make more faster.

To add an element to it you can make it a bit of a rogue like where there's a point where you can 'start over' so that the next time you start you get some bonus to it.  Kinda like egg games or whatnot.

Let's have a quick look

So, as the game starts out, it wants you to earn enough money to buy a boat.  But, that boat costs 1 billion.

You can find money by going around the island and tapping things and might just find a couple coins here and there.

But, for the most part you make your money by going into some homes and breaking the pots that the homeowners had put their coins in.  Yeah, Link, eat your heart out.  You can tap them to break.  As you earn coins you can buy different kinds of pots that are stronger but have more money in them.

note: played on some devices with different aspects sometimes have difficulty showing those dialog boxes

You can buy how many pots a house will have and how fast they'll be replaced...

Then, instead of you busting the pots you can 'hire' gnomes to go into houses and do that work for you.  Now, when you watch them, they'll work hard.

Go out, they don't work as hard.

You can buy all sorts of upgrades that will cost money and it'll take you time to get there to get that update, but then you can accelerate that earning.

Earning more can allow you to buy keys to other houses that'll either have houses with pots or a place you can buy other upgrades (like the bank that helps the homeowners want to put more money in there).  The Inn can help you upgrade your tap strength and the speed and strength of the gnomes.  The blacksmith gives your gnomes weapons to help scare off thieves.

The twist in the game is that not just Gold as a resource you also have a mine you can go in.  Find ores that you can use to buy tougher pickaxes to mine stones to give you more ores... you could use the ores to trade in for Gold, but after a while it's not going to be worth it... so there's got to be something more to it in this game, and I've not quite found it.

There are also 'souls' you find to purchase other upgrades...

There are hidden puzzles to find items and get bonuses, and at one point, I found that you can find a person to offer to let you 'sacrifice' a working gnome to reset the whole game with a bonus to make the next run a little easier.

It's interesting, I realize that even with several hours of direct time playing I've only got as far as getting the wizard tower.  I still don't know what that fox is doing, or the big building with skulls.  I've gotten as far as level 90 in the mine, but not sure where it keeps going.

And that's what keeps me coming back.  I want to get to that 'next level'... what happens when... and what's good is that when I do put it away, it does still accumulate money for me (just not nearly as fast when I'm actively there) so I can come back a couple hours later and have some money now or buy some upgrades.

So I keep coming back and that's what makes this pretty worth the coin!
