A Webbing Journey - a fun sandbox with spiders

Okay, so I've been looking for things to help fill my time over the summer... it's quieter for me now and on days like today when it's a million degrees and poor air quality, I hunker inside and enjoy some dehumidification an AC.  But what to do inside; find a fun game.

Now the game I'm taking a look at today would be something that myself andmy son would have loved about 10 years ago as it does play more like a youth kind of game as it's a bit 'sandboxy' - meaning you can run around and do whatever you'd like and there's some physics in the happenings to make other things happen.

This is A Webbing Journey; a free spider game and here's their trailer:

So essentially, you're a spider, you walk around and jump and can shoot webs (either, that's stuck to you or from place to place).  Simple.  Your little spider body walks around and crawls up walls and under counters.

The main purpose is to accomplish tasks, being able to use your skills to navigate this huge house you're in and help clean or make food etc...

In my video above I run around and I try to move the bread by webbing to it and drag it into a toaster.  Then you have to web a power cord to drag that into an outlet.  Then jump on the plunger to start the toasting.  Doing that crossed off an activity for me 'make toast'.  Later on I got into the fridge and dropped an egg and bacon into a pan and turned it on, and it then said I made 'breakfast' (albeit superbly burnt).

It's simple in it's idea but you have to find ways to work within your own powers.  It reminded me much like Minecraft or Roblox where you had to try to build simple tools with even simpler tools as everything follows a style of physics.

I got to a point where I even turned on the sink, and plugged up the overflow so it flooded the kitchen (which helped me with the tasks of 'washing the floor' and 'watering the plants').

It's definitely got the possibility to really play around and ignore tasks and make up your own.  I've found myself actually having an hour disappear as I just tried to see if I could do X on my own.

If you've got a young kid around, they're going to love it.
