So I found this quirky little bug, and I've submitted the feedback, and they've said it's been elevated and looking for a fix. We'll see how soon it comes.

So, essentially, if you take a photo, and then go into Google Photos and make a simple edit (a crop, in these cases), when you go to another app to select it to be included/attached, the image picker can't see it.
It could see the picture before you edited it, but once the photo is edited from Google Photos, other apps that use an image picker don't see it anymore. So weird. It's there in the Google Photos app, but 'invisible' to other apps when you want to pick something (like Gemini or Instagram).
A good workaround is to 'share' the photo from Photos to the app of your choice, but what if I wanted to attach multiple edited pics to Gemini as I'm making a poster and need a few reference images. What if it's a Facebook post? Doesn't work then.
I'd submitted it to the Google Photos community, and they deemed it was a duplicate of another that had been elevated.
That other post suggested we could choose 'save as copy' when you do the edits, but then I have multiples in my photos album and I like a tidy album. We'll see if the next bug fix in August, or some app update fixes it. I'll let you know.
