Okay, so I have always regarded the new updates and security features like "yeah well that's just behind the scenes, under the hood, I'll never 'notice' them".
Until the other day. The "Phone by Google" app got to use it's Scam Detection feature.
I had been talking to a friend of my mother's who had asked me to play at a funeral and we had discussed details and she mentioned she wanted to pay me for it so asked how she could e-transfer so asked for my email, so I suggested I could text her - so she gave me her cellphone number and it was an out of country number.
As soon as the number started being given I got a buzz on the phone saying "likely spam".
Interesting. After the call I went into the app to check it out.
It gave me the option to say it wasn't a scam and I had to say why with a few prompts.
Interesting.
Definitely something now I'm going to be recommending to folks to be using, I'll see if I can put the app on my dad's new Samsung.
Turn it on by going into Settings and see the option for Scam Detection and then in that you can turn it on.
