Statik Hypermount lets you put your phone somewhere and have it stay there

It's that back to school time, and our thoughts turn from relaxing summer vacation to 'let's get s**t done" type thing.  I tend to like to rearrange my desk, see what more efficiencies I could find - and one thing as it seems the number of monitors and screens I'm surrounded with keeps growing, is a place to put my phone.  I do like a good stand up wireless charger - but charging isn't always needed.  Sometimes, just a place for a phone to sit is enough.  I used to have a bunch of those phone 'rests' where it's like a holder, but either the phone falls out or something isn't tight enough; so I've wholly welcomed the magnetic holders lately.

Today's version comes from Statik and the Hypermount will run you a good $42CDN.

First up, I like it because it does not take up a lot of room, it's a tiny puck.  No big goose neck base and 'head', which tells me that it'll be nice that if it's not in use you could just tuck it down and it looks minimal.

You have to work the 'upper puck' portion and it bends itself out. and you can angle the 'head' however you want to position how you want the phone to sit.

There's a little extra bit on the 'neck' that lets you extend it out a couple cm as well.

Now, in order to really make use of it you'd need to affix the base to something and to do that, the base here has a bit of a vacuum seal.  You put it down on a clean environment, and then slide from open to 'locked' with the metal slider.

And it's now stuck.  Slide it back to unlock and with a little pressure and you can move it to a new place.

I've gone and put it on this poster on my wall and it's been well over 24 hrs and it hasn't moved and the phone's still hanging.

Pretty awesome for me to just have a mount and place it and it's someplace I can hold my phone out of the way, it's upright and easily accessible.

Now, in the box there were some more accessories for this.

An allen key to adjust the neck (maybe fix it into a position), a piece of plastic that you can use to put on a space where it's not so perfect for the vacuum (think like a textured upholstery or car dash) -- so that can be put down with the adhesive, so that the vacuum can connect to that better.

It also comes with magnetic rings with adhesive so if your phone case doesn't have magsafe, now it does (and I've checked that it can still charge with them connected; I've had some issues in the past with metal rings preventing Qi).  So that's cool.

It's a neat little accessory, and i'm finding the right spot for it (in the car, by the bedside) what I like is that it's pretty minimal so if I wanted to move it around it's not so invasive in whatever space.  That minimalism comes at a price... a price of $42CDN.  It's a bit high compared to others, but is definitely more compact.
