This will be interesting. I was thinking of buying another Chromecast for the house... for a monitor that I could connect up in a room, and not just put like a Nest Hub, and I don't want a smart TV. Something simple.
Since the Chromecast came along, I've just loved them. Then adding a remote control, it really sealed the coffin on Roku for me. This is just easier.
But, if you try to go to the store now, it says it's no longer available.
The Streamer is still there. I like it, but if you read my review, you know I still preferred the simplicity of the Chromecast. Both systems are simple - I didn't notice any performance difference or features differences... For me the preference lies in the fact that I can just hide the Chromecast behind the TV, and sometimes the USB port is powerful enough to run it, so one less cable dangling. The Streamer kinda needs a place to 'sit'.
So with Chromecast gone, and just Streamer left... but yet the 'cast' verbiage still exists, or will that change ultimately too?
