So, way back when I got the Nest Hub Max I loved it immediately, and with its camera, it made for easy calls or check ins with the kid when he got home from school. Just, back then, cameras for "Nest" were handled the Nest app. Google has been slowly making the change from the Nest branding over to the Google Home branding. Lots of the newer devices, like thermostats, cameras, doorbells etc... all start their set up in the Home app. But some of the older devices are still in the Nest app.
Sure, you can 'see' these items in the Home app, but their main functionality is controlled via the older Nest app.
Slowly but surely, some of those devices have 'transferred' that control from Nest to Home. The wired "Nest Hello" doorbell transferred over a few months back, meaning that I now can fully control that doorbell within Home.
Since I had changed the thermostat from the older to a newer, the doorbell moved over, that just left the Nest Hub Max's camera still as a last hold out ...
until yesterday (sorta).
The forums were mentioning that the camera was going to be transferring soon, and last night I got the notification in Nest that I could start the process.
Yay, I can finally lose the Nest app.
Except, I have been getting errors.
And googling the issue seems to see that others have the same too. Sometimes it'll switch me over to the Nest and nothing happens.
Other times it'll switch over with a message saying "error, try to restart the transfer" and then when it asks which camera, nothing will show.
Could be just the start of a process and a glitch, give a day or 2 and it'll be fine -- but I am impatient.
Have you had yours switch?
