Unboxing the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra

Just in time for me to work it in for the summer activities, I was sent the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra.

Now, if you remember, I didn't have a glowing review of the TicWatch GTH Pro, which had its own proprietary OS.

Whereas, this Pro 3 Ultra runs Wear OS.  This is something I can really get behind now.  I've been on Wear OS since the original LG G Watch, and feel other trackers to be just too limited.

So, let's unbox:

What we get in the box for $400CAD (on sale at the moment for $280) is as following:

  • 1.4" round 454x454 display
  • Snapdragon Wear 4100
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB storage
  • BT / GPS / WiFi / NFC (for Google Pay)
  • heart rate sensor
  • Mic + Speaker
  • 577mAh
  • IP68 / MIL-STD-810G

Yeah, these are the kinds of specs I can really dig.  A true Qualcomm processor made for Wear.  High res screen without the flat tire bottom.  It has even NFC to do tap to pay with it (man, if only TD allowed Google Pay).  Let alone the decent battery size, and the IP rating and MIL spec to know it can take some banging around.

Most curious of all is that it has a speaker built in too... mm, I'll be paying attention to that.

Downside is the charger, like most of these - not a fan of 'pins'.

Right now for just $280 makes it a really good bargain in my books, but I'll put it through some paces and give you a full review in a couple weeks.
