September update for Pixel is ... here?

Well, I've gotten used to sometimes the Pixel update taking a few days... weeks even... into the month before we get it.

Then I see there's a Pixel Drop for September with 5 new features.  They announce it September 1st, and my phone gets the update right away.  I've never ever got it right away, let alone an update on the 1st of the month.

I download and read over what to expect... and none of it is there.  Check the Play Store update, the Google Services update... Firmware says it's up to date, but none of the features they mention I can find.  Here's what's supposed to be there:

  • A 'remembered' tab for Find Hub.  You can tell Gemini "remember that my passport is in the TARDIS", so for my passport that's listed in the Find Hub will now have a 'remembered tab' in the app so not only will you know the area of it, but specifically where in that area.  I tried it, but Gemini just updated my notes details with that detail.
  • Motion Assist - a setting you can turn on in the quick panel to help draw on the screen to help draw on the screen 'bubbles' that correspond to your 'motion' (like in a car) to help you with motion sickness
  • Guided Vision - like a live 'Lens search', using your camera to tell you what it sees; useful for htose with vision impairments
  • Google Keep integrated in Messages - you can 'add' to a conversation a Keep list or note that shows up in the messages
  • Themes in Messages - instead of just colours you can add pictures to the background.  Not as exciting as it seems.  Oddly, this is the one feature I had kick in last week (before this update).  Interesting as it was supposed to be there a while back, seems like it's been on a slow roll out for everyone.

So, without all those features they said were there, I'd wait a couple days and just see if it showed up.  Still nothing.  Even a Google Play System update later... nada.  Google just being Google, I guess - doing that slow roll.
