Google's got a new speaker!

I don't know about you, but me, I love a Google speaker.  I have several variations of them in my house and it's nice to be able to just walk in a room and ask a question, or have it turn on a set of lights... people find it funny on zoom calls when my speakers announce that my laundry is finished.

I have a mix of original Google Home mini speakers, Nest minis, Google Home Audio, Nest Hub, Hub Max, etc... they pair well with the 4 Chromecasts and 27'ish lightbulbs and other smart devices.

And, it looks like we might get to add a couple more (well, wife will say I should 'replace') to the house as Google has launched the new Google Home Speaker; this time with Gemini baked into it.

Looking it over, it's definitely bigger than the old minis, it is said to be slightly louder, so that tracks.  I'm not enthused over the fact that the cord is now hardlined into the unit (and you plug that cord into a USB-C port), so if I needed a longer cord depending on where I put it, I might be shnookered.

But, new is new, and worthy of a look on paper; although the thought of when we used to pay $30-$50 for a mini, this new one is going to be $140.  Nearly double what the last mini was going for at regular cost. Uff.  But it has fancier looking lights!

Will let you know my thoughts when we get our hands on one to compare.
