March brings a new Pixel update!

Ooh, a new month.  I like March.  I don't know if it's my favourite, but ... Pi day (3.14), St. Patty's (Mar 17), MarIO day (Mar 10) or "International Bagpipe Day" as well... lots of fun, plus we start seeing the end of the winter tunnel.  I still can't believe how fast the months are blowing by... but a new month also brings the arrival of new Pixel updates!

I haven't seen the update yet on my Pixel 9 Pro, but looking forward to it.  Especially 'people' in Pixel Studio.  I can't tell you the number of times I get that 'error message' from the app even tho' I didn't want people in it.

Health and safety updates:

  • Scam detection: is now available in Google messages. This feature uses AI to detect conversation patterns that are commonly used by scammers to alert users of potential scams. [Available in English to start]
  • Satellite SOS: has expanded to Canada. Now you can stay connected to emergency services, even if you don’t have cellular or Wi-Fi.
  • Find My Device: now lets you share your live location with family and friends right in the app, to help you stay connected to loved ones.

Tools for creativity:

  • Connected Camera: lets you connect your Pixel to another camera, like a GoPro or another Pixel phone, and use the cameras on all these devices to livestream on social media apps.
  • Pixel Studio: now lets you create unique images of people to share with your friends and family. All you have to do is type a description of a person or scene and watch as Pixel Studio brings your imagination to life. [Available in English, Japanese and German to start]

Tools to help you stay organized:

  • Suggestions in Pixel Screenshots: Find what you’re looking for faster with the new suggestions feature in Screenshots. The feature automatically suggests screenshots to add to collections, making them “smart.” [Available in English to start]
  • Auto transcribe: lets you switch to Pixel and keep your recordings. Now, if there are any recordings on your older phone or Pixel Watch, you can transfer them to your current Pixel phone and they'll be transcribed automatically in the Recorder app.

New on Pixel Watch:

  • Menstrual health logging: The Pixel Watch 3 now supports menstrual cycle viewing and period logging directly on your watch. [Available on the Pixel Watch 3 to start]
  • Step count optimization: Whether you’re pushing a shopping cart, jogging with a stroller or hiking with poles, the step counter algorithm can now recognize when you’ve deviated from typical walking patterns, giving you even more accurate step tracking.
