I've talked a lot about 'daily' lately. Daily driver of my phone, daily driver of my tablet, or ear buds...
But even still, there's something a lot of us use every day, and it's the apps that surround these phones and accessories.
One app that I use everyday, and I KNOW that I've used every day is Duolingo. I'm on a 1300+ daily use streak as I started to use it to brush up on my French to help my son that was in an immersion school, and then for my own work at the time as it was a DBA (designated bilingual area). I've since switched up to learn Scottish Gaelic for the past few months(tha e cho sporsail) and then yesterday the app updated to allow it to teach you 2 new 'languages':
- Math (oh that'll be fun)
- Music
So, they're not languages, but they're fun to learn, and it's learning in a new way too.
Math they have you fill in the blanks for math operations (think Mathler) but also have neat ways to use 'manipulatives' (man that's using my old educator brain) where you can pick a number on a number line, or count squares.
Music has you moreso learning notes and lengths (I might use this for teaching bagpipes maybe... hrmmm, teaching timing is such a difficult notion).
You can even 'play along' to see how you do.
Not sure I'll stick with these lessons, personally... It's been a billion years since I've played piano, and I do love math, but this might be too boring for me.
But, it's awesome to help those people who need it help keep them sharp.
What will you learn?
