I'm a data guy... hell, I have a whole page of just databases of information for us. And one of the bits I like to look over is just how much of the user base out there is on Android devices. Currently talking to some local shops and they'd say it's a near even split with iOS/Android/Blackberry (but definitely starting to notice BB slipping and Android upping); and that's just in my corner of the world.
comScore keeps track on a much bigger scale. Their latest report has some US numbers for us to look over. Aside from the distribution, the interesting part I liked was the App Audience.
The first chart here shows that by manufacturer alone, Apple is still the top dog, and is pretty steady in that position. In fact most manufacturers haven't really adjusted by much.
Switch gears to a platform base and it's a different story
Android has a clear win at 52.2%. Now that's a 0.4% change from last time, and most of the platforms had steadied out, except for almost a 1% reduction for BlackBerry.
Pretty much things have stuck to the same numbers for the past few months. We'll see how the introduction of the Moto X sale and Moto G sales for Black Friday / Cyber Monday influence these in the long run.
As for the App Audience portion... interesting to see that the Google services have really populated the top 15:
really? Apple Maps made it into that list?
