#TipoftheWeek - Making a backup of your text messages!

I'm addicted to texting I'll admit to that. I do well over a 1000 text a week and some of these are actually work or project related with some information that definitely needs to be kept. This weeks tip is how-to backup your text messages the easy way!

My favourite app is SMS Backup +.Why? Because it will actually connect to your Gmail account and create a label under which you messages will be backed up. This includes all of your text messages, your pictures messages and your video messages.

Now if you ask me this is the best so far that I've seen. Mind you the initial backup process can take a while to complete depending on the amount of messages it needs to backup. It took me the initial time to backup  13k worth of messages a good hour.

For this to work properly, you do require to have IMAP enabled in your Gmail account. (Click on the image to get the proper settings)

The developer does add a note of caution; "Please note that auto backup might not work reliably when SMS Backup+ is installed on the SD card. Future version will hopefully fix this, in the meantime please move it back to phone memory if possible".

Once you've setup all the settings that you need, make sure to click on backup and let it do the rest. Just bare in mind that you need a stable connection or you'll have to start the backup process from the last message it was actually backing up. It's a good thing that it doesn't have to start all over from the beginning.
