Moto X Confirmed Coming to Canada in a Few Weeks

The Moto X has got me a little excited the past couple days, despite its lackluster specs on paper. I got in contact with Motorola via email, and they confirmed Canada will be getting the Moto X around the same time the US will. That's right.... No additional months of waiting for Canadians this time.

Motorola replied to me in an email stating the following:
"Moto X will be available in the US, Canada and Latin America starting in late August/early September. In the US , woven black and woven white models will be available at AT&T, Sprint, US Cellular, Verizon Wireless and at national retailers including Best Buy stores with a suggested retail price of $199 with a new two-year agreement. Additionally, it will be available on all carriers, including T-Mobile, at Motorola.com."
So we got an official time frame. Rumors around the internet seem to point to August 29th, but we all know how those rumors go....

Additionally we also found out that a true Google Edition wouldn't be making its way to the Google Play Store, but rather the exact same retail Moto X would be offered. There were a few disappointed people on the internet when that news dropped, but it's really not that bad if you think about it.

The Moto X is already pretty stock. If we stripped it away of all its Moto sensors and software like Active Notification system, always on voice actions, and flicking your wrist for camera, what would we have left? We'd have a Nexus 3.5..

So the positive things to look at are the ability to take the phone away from the carrier. It'll come unlocked, and hopefully slightly cheaper than seen in retail stores due to lack of carrier inflation.  Also Google's return and repair policy is very easy and solid, those are things we can look forward to. However, being Canadian, would we even see the Google Play Moto X for sale?
Keep in mind we still haven't seen the HTC One or S4 Google Editions yet...

What do you think? Should there be a fully stock Google Play Edition, or is Google and Motorola right in keeping the retail version the way it was meant to be on the Google Play Store?
