Panasonic brings Android to your ... phones

Back when I worked retail and sold cordless phones (never understood why landlines without wires were cordless, and cellular were 'wireless') THE best out there were the Panasonic phones.  Pricey, but so worth it.

Which is why I'm really stoked to see this new announcement from Panasonic - they're making cordless phones with Android.  Not top of the line, mind you, but what do you really need for you landline?  To be honest, ours are currently starting to act up and we were debating even not replacing them.

Now, we have good reason to.

Except, that it's only been announced in Europe at the moment.

I don't know about you, but I'd definitely pick this little thing up.

What's especially good about this is the fact that Panasonic was to be releasing some actual smartphone devices, but cancelled that - so at least the idea's not dead!

Here's what yo uget for the device (note, no pricing has been announced yet):

  • 3.5" @ 480x320 screen
  • Android 4.0
  • Answering machine (select models)
  • 0.3MP FFC (oooh, a real video phone?)
  • 1450mAh battery
  • microSD support (doesn't say about storage)
  • microUSB connector for charging
  • up to 6 handsets
  • key finder accessory (optional)

That multi handset option is wha treally kind of seals the deal for me.  A super easy to use in house intercom system.  Come on +Panasonic Corporation - bring this to Canada!
