F-Droid - Download Many of the Google Play Removed Apps

+Sylvain Le Bourhis and myself where talking about apps that have been removed from the Google Play Store recently, mainly Ad-Blockers to be more specific. We tell you they're available off market, but we never point you in to the right direction on where that might be. Today I'm giving you the road map to a place I like called F-Droid.

F-Droid is what I'd call an underground Google Play for developers to post their apps for more exposure, or simply for them to keep there apps alive when Google has either banned/removed or simply will not support anymore.

The apps we once loved so much are now being listed and updated here by the developers who've been given the cold shoulder by Google.

  • AdFree
  • AdAway
  • Apollo (CyanogenMod's music player that was removed almost immediately)
  • GameBoid (GBA emulator. Removed from Gplay a long time ago, but is still the best available)
These are just a couple from the top of my head that I have interest in and have been removed from the Google Play Store.

Note: I'm not going to sit here and tell you that everything's going to be perfectly safe downloading these applications from F-Droid, because the reality of it is you're downloading APKs off market. These apps are outside of Google's scope, so anyone can put whatever they want in these APKs and are not subject to Google's rules and regulations. That being said, know what you're downloading and use your common sense.

If you'd like to try F-Droid for yourself you can Download the APK Here, or scan the QR Code with your Android device.
