Make all the Neo jokes you want. But HTC has released a heck of a phone today.
Sure, there's all sorts of negative publicity about how HTC hasn't 'pulled out of the fire' or how they're 'tanking'. Not in my books.
The release of the One, is a pretty big event, and I think they should be commended about it.
Let's take a look.
There's a big part of my Android heart that holds a place for HTC. They've brought to us the first couple of Android devices, plus the first 4G, etc... I really admired that. Samsung, for all it's given us for popularity, I have to admit I'm not a big fan of. But that's just me. Millions and millions of people can't be wrong.
So, how is this device? Well, to be honest, I haven't had much chance to take a look. I've been quite swamped with work today, and most of this week. But let's look over the bare specs:

So, how is this device? Well, to be honest, I haven't had much chance to take a look. I've been quite swamped with work today, and most of this week. But let's look over the bare specs:
- 4.7" @ 1080p
- 1.7GHz x4 w/ 2GB RAM
- 32GB or 64GB
- 4 "ultra"pixels / 2.1MP
- JB 4.1.2 w/ Sense 5.0
The specs are definitely in-line with something right now. Nothing 'wow'ing, but good. I have to 'dive into' what this Ultra Pixel is in order to really buy in. Remember when Google wanted to call them "super phones"?
I'm glad to see that with the announcement comes a firm timeline (early March) and we're seeing WHERE we can get it too (also, that it's going to all the biggies in Canada).
There's also comment on the "BlinkFeed" as it looks like WP8's 'metro tile'... I'm sure a 3rd party launcher will help fix that.
What do you think of it?
