So it's been somethin I've semi-lamented for some time. I really liked the hardware that Huawei offered, but unfortunately their quarrels with the government in the US (warranted or not) has led to the manufacturer needing to slit ways from the main branch of Android support.
When they were no longer able to use the Google base of Android, they built their phone's OS on the AOSP libraries and called it HarmonyOS. It was still Android, but just didn't touch on any of the Google base meaning they had to have their own app store, etc...
And then fast forward a few years and where we're at today, Huawei announced HarmonyOS NEXT, which is separate from the Linux kernel and is saying can be up to 3x faster
Without that 'Android' base, they're really going to have an OS customized specifically to their needs and devices (iOS ring any bells). Will be interesting to see how this develops in the coming years.
