Sony discusses their Pie rollout

So, the Pixel devices got their Android Pie update.  Lots of folks talking about that new feature and I'll get to it soon.

But not everybody has a Pixel device, so everybody else is wondering "where's my update?"

Sony is now discussing their roll out plans for their updates (see below for their statement).  Looks like the upper ends will get it in just under 2 months, and the next tier in the next year.  I have both the XZ2 and the XA2 Ultra downstairs and will be interesting to see what Pie brings to those.

Google has unveiled AndroidTM 9 Pie*, meaning every XperiaTM owner will be wondering: when can I get my hands on it?

The good news is: you won’t have to wait too long to get the brand-new version of Android on your Xperia device**.

Our Premium-range models are expected to have the upgrade available from November, meaning owners of the Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact will be among the first to get their hands on the new tech.

Owners of XA2, XA2 Ultra and XA2 Plus devices can expect to access the upgrade early 2019.

We always aim for the quickest possible upgrade rollout from the time Google makes its announcement to when it reaches your smartphone. And it’s essential that Sony engineers have the time to implement all our feature upgrades and test devices to meet our high quality standards.
