There's so many different keyboards for your devices in the Google Play Store that it can become a nightmare for people. Most are quite content to just use the OEM keyboard and that's just enough for them. On the other end of the spectrum, you've got power users who are the keyboard cowboys and they need this to be at the top of their game.
Many of my fellow Android sheriff's have also tried many and we all each have our preferences... It's always a fun time when we engage in what works best, because we all share different views, passions about each and everything and sometimes this results in conflicts. I've elected for a battle of the keyboards between Ginger, who's cute, fun and presents itself as the ultimate tool in spelling, grammar correction.
In the other corner of this coliseum, we have Swiftkey, who's mature, fast and well established as the town's law enforcement official. Who between these two will manage to run the other one out?
Switfkey also offers its own share of experience and bolsters some interesting characteristics:
As they both offer the ability to swipe your words, my goal is to see which one understands me the best in the way I swipe. I'm a guy that's always on the go and I may not always have a steady hand while swiping. I tend to use only one hand to type what I need and therefore I need something that will work as such.
During my field test, on the transit, I was trying to send multiple text messages and emails. I sent 5 text messages using Ginger and 5 emails. Out of 10, Ginger completed correctly 5 of 10 actions with no mistakes. Ginger offered me to correct the ones that had spelling, grammar errors.
Switching over to Swiftkey, I completed the same test. I sent 5 text messages and 5 emails. Out of the 10, Switfkey completed 7 out of 10 with no mistake.Swiftkey did not offer the properly corrected words or grammar for some, but did to others. It also went ahead with proper spelling, grammar in 7 cases which puts it ahead of Ginger in this test.
When it comes to typing with two fingers, both of these keyboards have excelled at making the needed correction while on the fly.Swiftkey provides substitution for the wrong words or syntax while Ginger will provide you a selection of what should be changed depending on what you are writing.
Then you have the added sparkle with themes, keyboard placement options, emoji's and more.
Both of these keyboard have the ability to correct, arrange, provide word selections base on your style. There's no doubt in my mind that they both are awesome keyboard. They've provided for my test many aspects. It really boils down to a personal choice.
It's definitely a hard pick and I honestly can't pick just one over the other in that sense. To me these keyboards are at the top of their game and they are both winners. I'm pretty sure you didn't see that one coming, but I can't pick one over the other. As a preference, I prefer the swipe ability of Swiftkey to be more accurate.
