I have to admit, I still miss Google Assistant... Gemini can't do 'broadcast' yet, and it was my favourite feature (especially with a dozen Google Minis or Nest Hubs around the house), but you can't ignore that Gemini is being squeezed into more things... and I'm getting used to it. Magic Editor in Photos. Pixel Studio.
One thing they showed off was the Gemini Live - a way to talk with Gemini on your phone like you'd talk to a friend (except the demo kept showing how quickly they cut this 'friend' off, some of us were raised with manners). It was meant as a flowing conversation, not a standard "hey computer do this thing I asked" - more of "hey computer, I need help with... okay, now can it have... and how about ...".
It's something I talk a lot about to people when discussing AI, that it's no longer an INPUT -> OUTPUT kind of interface it's a process of INPUT -> draft -> suggestion... -> penultimate draft
I'm relishing in it.
And now Gemini Live is coming FOR FREE to a phone near you with Gemini soon.
They are prioritizing the Gemini Advanced customers first, but in the coming weeks you should get it.
We're starting to roll out Gemini Live in English to more people using the Android app, free of charge. Go Live to talk things out with Gemini, explore a new topic, or brainstorm ideas. Keep an eye out for Gemini Live in the Gemini app 👀 pic.twitter.com/0VL0c7E6Gw
