Have your Nexus 4 show LTE instead of 4G

I'm a little OCD when it comes to my phones, I need everything to be spot on. If something should catch my eye that's not perfect in my mine, I'll find a way to fix it either by XDA or manually tweaking it myself by basic editing.

I found a way for my LTE enabled Nexus 4 to show LTE rather than 4G

It's actually very simple to do. You need an app called Zip Themer and the system UI tweak and slap them together and flash it!

You can find this particular LTE file and modifications here at XDA and then once you've downloaded the mod you want, simply follow the instructions:

1. Download ZipThemer - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ipthemer&hl=en
2. Update edify - Menu>update edify>browse
3. Pick and flashable file that you have on your phone excluding these ones (I used a previous CM update.zip)
4. Click Configure
4. Tap "+Theme"
5. Then "Build It"
6. Reboot into recovery and flash the newly created zip
7. Enjoy!

If you can't figure it out or are just lazy, you can always just use the one I made for my LG Nexus 4. You can download it from my DropBox Here.

WARNING! Please keep in mind this zip from my DropBox was created for my Nexus 4 running CyanogenMod 10.1, OS 4.2.2. Flashing this on a different phone other than a LG Nexus 4 could potentially do harm to your system such as making your Status and Notification bar FC and fail to load.

Before attempting do to this or flashing my own personal made LTE icon for the Nexus 4 I strongly recommend you do a system backup, you never know what could go wrong.

Of course this is one of those Flash at your own risk situations.

  1. What baseband version does this provide?

    1. None, It's just a UI modification. I will not change or have any effect on your baseband.

  2. I really, really, want to do this but cannot figure out! It's very upsetting! I tried to flash the one you made and it did not work for me. Good thing I made a nandroid.

    1. Yeah it's a little complicated. Once you successfully do it the first time, you realize how easy it really was.

Sorry it didn't work out for you.

  3. I flashed your dropbox version (I have a CM 10.1 build and android 4.2.2) and I keep getting "Unfortunately System UI has crashed" I will try to flash CM again and see if I can solve this issue

    1. Damn that's a shame, worked for me and many of my friends too.
Flashing CM should replace the stock UI and all should be well.

If all else fails you have a backup... Right?
