What's a month like using Boxer from VMware? Let's find out

This isn't a review of the application per say, more like the usage of a different email application and how this impact my daily routine. Now Boxer is an excellent mail client, however, this isn't the mail client for me on Android. I'll be going into more details as to why I've drawn this conclusion.

I've set myself a couple of goals over the last little while. One of which was to strictly use Boxer by VMware to do all of my daily email business. What does this mean? No desktop interaction for email, all purely done on my mobile device.

How's Boxer going to help me achieve this? First, it's an email client which offers lots of rich features like many other on the market. On a second note, it also has a calendar that's integrated within the application which syncs all the available calendar I've selected.

So far so good right? I get emails, I can reply, create, send, draft etc. I can book stuff in my calendar and move on with my daily work. This is where it gets interesting.

Boxer's motto is "Work Smarter"
• Boxer helps you work smarter and faster with features like bulk edit and quick replies, and with built-in calendar and contacts. Some other features we think you’ll love:
• Combined Inbox: add multiple email accounts
• Smart Folders: Boxer remembers where you like to file things for quick organisation
• Send Availability: Select and send your calendar availability with just a few taps
• Email Likes: Use “Like” to quickly acknowledge the sender’s message
• Files: View and manage downloaded attachments from all accounts

All of the above works like a charm! However, my big issue is with the "PUSH/SYNC" of the mailboxes. This might have something to do with the fact that I'm using several services; Exchange, Google App, IMAP and POP3 emails.

It gave me quite a bit of grief over the month I've used it. In the first week of me being on Boxer, I wanted to see if there was any type of delays in noticing emails on the different mailboxes and the one on my mobile device. Everything was good, I got the email almost at the same time as anywhere else after my initial week, I started to see delays with "PUSH/SYNC". From a few minutes to well over a couple of hours before the device reported anything sync. If I forced the sync, it works perfectly fine, which I shouldn't have to do.

I've reported this little problem to them and will see how far this will go. I've looked up some similar issues with other users as well.

Visually, I would have preferred an overall dark theme to the application. I don't mind reading the emails in Black/White, however, the application does need to have a darker feel to it. I've never been a huge fan of having light coloured themes for applications and that's also true for the desktop.

With that said, I'll be moving to a different application in the mean time and will see which mail client will be by next test.
