Google I/O 2015 - Android M (Automatic data backup / restore)

Google didn't mention everything during the Keynote for I/O, but there was something to be said about the Data Backup, Apps & Restore feature of Android.

Android apps are getting state backup in Android M of the OS.
You'll be interested to know that the data being backed up consist of settings and app data. There is a limit to the size of the data backup being done for each application, something along the lines of 25MB in total size.

Automatic backup, which happens on a cycle every 24 hour period, is all across the OS on Android M. There's mention that developers can write code to opt in or or some part of the app. Apps will need to make use of the M SDK to target those features and this sure looks like some app will need to be updated accordingly.
