One of my main uses for my S4 is tracking appointments and part of the is know what day it actually is. Enter ExtDateWidgetXL a pretty widget that simply shows the week and highlights the day and date.
What makes is a widget rather than simply a calendar display is that you can choose the app that is launched when you tap on the widget. I was looking for something that would launch S Planner - I like the month view better - and was surprised that I already had it installed.
You can also change the font colour and background. Not a lot of options needed. Give it a try if you are looking for a different date display.
